T’was a busy Independence Week in Florida
Jamaica’s 60th anniversary of Independence kept Florida abuzz with celebratory activities. Some organisations chose to stage their special events around the Independence holidays, keeping Miami Consul General Oliver Mair busy and bringing out the star of the moment, attorney Alison Smith, the Jamaican and first black woman president of the 100-year-old Broward Country Bar Association. Jamaica Stock Exchange honcho Dr Marlene Street-Forrest also flew in for one of the big events:
