THE Gary Subratie-conditioned Lord Burkington found the winner’s line in his third-lifetime start, dictating the pace throughout for a narrow win against 14 rivals in the $950,000 native-bred three-year-old Maiden Condition race coming down the straight course (1,000m) on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Caymanas Park.

In the capable hands of Andre Powell, Lord Burkington showed improved tactical speed, with pressing fractions of 22.3 x 45.4 from up front in posting a head win in a time of 59.3 seconds for the distance.

Lord Burkington was out of the starting gates at the off in good order and disputed the early lead along with first-time runners Traveller’s Lodge (Anthony Thomas) and Bestdaughterinlaw (Ruja Lahoe), along with Funometer (Tevin Foster).

Coming across the dummy rails, Bestdaughterinlaw held a slim lead ahead of Lord Burkington and Funometer, with Traveller’s Lodge dropping out of contention. With yards to go to the wire, Babylon Will Fall (Oshane Nugent) worked his way into the battle.

Then Lord Burkington edged on to win ahead of Funometer, with Babylon Will Fall a half-length away in third spot.

Lord Burkington is the three-year-old chestnut colt bred by Berlino Di Tiger out of the Dance Master mare Soca Dancer.

After the win, Subratie said his charge should play a prominent role in his races further down the road.

“It was a good performance by Lord Burkington on Saturday. He is a fighter; he is a tough little horse who showed promise from his first run in July of this year. He is getting better and better with each run and should develop into a noteworthy animal,” Subratie informed.
