UPDATE: 13-y-o Westmoreland fire victim responding well to surgery in the US
GEORGIA, United States — Adrianna Laing, the 13-year-old survivor of Sunday’s house fire that left her three younger brothers dead, was successful in the first surgery she underwent in the US, according to reports.
While it is not clear how many surgeries the teen will have to undergo, she spent her first night undergoing a two-to-three-hour procedure.
“She did her first surgery and she came out of it stable and she still has more to go,” Stephen Josephs, project manager of Sanmerna Foundation told OBSERVER ONLINE on Friday. Sanmerna Foundation assisted in transporting the teen to the US.
“We just want Jamaica to continue praying out of love for her at this time,” said Josephs, who pointed out that the teen has responded well to the surgery and is currently in a stable condition.
“She has a long road ahead of her and they are taking it step by step,” Josephs added.
The teen was airlifted to the US by Trinity Air Ambulance at the Norman Manley International Airport on Thursday.
