Jamaica Crocs end Rugby Sevens World Cup winless
The Jamaica Crocs ended their 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup campaign without claiming a victory after losing to Zimbabwe 31-17 in the 23rd place playoff at the Cape Town Stadium in South Africa on Sunday.
The Jamaicans’ loss to the African nation means that the Jamaica Crocs ended the World Cup in 24th place.
It means the number one ranked Caribbean team are yet to win a match at a Rugby Sevens World Cup since qualifying for the tournament for the first time in San Francisco, United States in 2018.
In Sunday’s match, Zimbabwe’s Kudzai Mashawi, Munopa Muneta, Sam Phiri, Munesu Muneta and Nigel Tinarwo made one try each while Ryan Musumhi made three conversions to give the African side a comfortable victory over the Jamaicans.
Jamaica Crocs put 17 points on the scoreboard through tries by Ashley Smith (one), Ronaldeni Faser (one) and Ryan Denvir (one), while Rhodri Adamson made the team’s lone conversion.
