STETHS extend dominance over Lacovia

Five-time former champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) extended their unbeaten run against neighbours Lacovia High to 10 straight after beating them 2-0 in their Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) daCosta Cup Zone E first-round game at the STETHS Sports Complex in Santa Cruz.

STETHS was one of three schools to win back-to-back games on Wednesday as Petersfield High beat Grange Hill 4-1 in Zone D and McGrath High also had a 4-1 win over Ewarton High in Zone K.

On Thursday, Manchester High will go in search of their second win when they host Bellefield High in one of three Zone F games set to be played.

Belair High and May Day will meet as well as Mt St Joseph Catholic and deCarteret College.

Manchester High are the only school to win a game in the daCosta Cup so far and faces a Bellefield High team they have never lost to.

On Wednesday, Dantay Campbell scored for the second game running and Jeffrey Henry got his first of the season as STETHS blanked Lacovia High 2-0 while Munro College got their first win of the season, edging BB Coke 1-0.

Robinho Dunn scored a double to lead Petersfield High to their second win, beating Grange Hill High 4-1 to join Manning’s School on six points at the top of Zone D.

Raheem Kerr and Clinton Beckford also scored one goal each for Petersfield High as Godfrey Stewart also had a 4-1 win over Belmont Academy.

Despite playing with just 10 players for most of the second half, Cornwall College had little trouble, with Maldon High winning 2-0 with goals from Braxton Richards and Jaden Jumpp in the first half and second half, respectively.

Dane Buckley was sent off in the second half, but Maldon High were unable to capitalise on the advantage as they extended their run of not scoring in a game to eight matches dating back to last season when they lost all seven games without scoring.

Irwin High also had a winning start in Zone A, edging former champions St James High 1-0 at Jarrett Park.
