91 new COVID-19 cases, one death reported

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 91 new COVID-19 cases and one death on Friday, September 16, bringing the infection total to 151, 221.

The new cases comprise 56 females and 35 males, with ages ranging from 10 months to 90 years.

The cases were recorded in Westmoreland (20), St James (14), Kingston and St Andrew (12), St Elizabeth (11), St Catherine (nine), St Thomas (six), Portland (five), Trelawny (five), Clarendon (three), Manchester (two), St Ann (two), and Hanover (two).

One death was recorded for the period. This was a 70-year-old male from Westmoreland.

There were 92 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 98,045.

Currently, 103 people are hospitalised, 36 of whom are moderately ill, seven severely ill and two in critical condition.

Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 18.4 per cent.
