Motorists warned of falling rocks in the Bog Walk Gorge
KINGSTON JAMAICA— The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) through the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) is advising motorists and the public of falling rocks along the corridor of the Bog Walk Gorge.
Individuals are being urged to proceed with caution while traversing the area and when possible should avoid using the roadway.
ODPEM is further advising the public to take the following precautions:
· Drive slowly through the area
· Avoid areas with damaged roadways.
· Avoid where necessary areas prone to landslide and flooding.
“The public is being asked to continue to monitor the radio for further advisories. Persons should take the necessary safety precautions as issued by the ODPEM, Meteorological Service of Jamaica and other authorities. The ODPEM will continue to monitor the situation and provide the public with further information,” the agency said in a statement.
