Outages increase as weather worsens in southern and eastern parishes — JPS
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is advising customers that despite its efforts to address small pockets of outages islandwide, some service disruption is still expected.
In a release on Monday, the light and power company said ongoing rains and lightning in some areas has given rise to new service interruptions across a number of parishes.
Among the parishes most affected are Clarendon, St Catherine, Manchester and St Thomas.
JPS said teams are also working to restore connections in the Mavis Bank area and King Weston and environs, in St Andrew. It shared that it is closely monitoring service levels, as the weather conditions continue to deteriorate in some locations, restricting access into communities and creating unsafe conditions.
