A small but talented field of six runners takes part in the $1.29-million Mark My Word Trophy, the main attraction of the four-trophy races on tomorrow’s 10-race card. The three-year-old and upwards Open Allowance event will be run over nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m) tomorrow (Saturday, October 8, 2022) at Caymanas Park.

Below is the analysis of each runner.

1. BIG JULE: (4 b c by Tapizar – Blues In The Grass) – Was expected to compete well in the recent Menudo Trophy, but finished fifth. With winner Calculus present, Big Jule cannot get a winning vote.

2. CALCULUS: (4 b c by Sensational Slam – Trinket Box) – Proved that he is the country’s top stayer after winning the Menudo Trophy over 10 furlongs (2,000m) on September 24. Then Calculus defeated I Am Fred by a length and three-quarters in a time of 2:08.0. This is another two-turn event right in the comfort zone of Calculus. Calculus is now primed to make it three wins in a row.

3. RUNAWAY ALGO (USA): (3 ch c by Algorithms – Misunify) – On September 25, easily defeated rivals by 2 3/4 lengths over seven-and-a-half furlongs (1,500m). Runaway Algo won in an impressive time of 1:30.4, confirming his growing status. Runaway Algo should give the favourite most to do here. This race is to get Runaway Algo to experience two-turns, and longer distances.

4. SHE’S A WONDER: (4 b f by Bern Identity – Jamaican Dream) – Winner of last year’s Jamaica Oaks. She’s A Wonder is of ability but is going to be hard-pressed to deliver in this one. She has known speed and will try to use that speed from the start.

5. MONEY MONSTER: (5 b g by Casual Trick – She’s Traditional) – Has no chance where winning is concerned.

6. MAKE UP ARTIST: (5 b m by Adore The Gold – Lipstick Lily) – Talented runner who was unplaced in the recent None Such Sprint over six furlongs. Make Up Artist should just about get this distance and will be doing her running on the front end before giving way to the more fancied runners toward the end of the race.
