Students left stranded as Trelawny taxi operators protest road conditions
MARTHA BRAE, Trelawny —- Residents and taxi operators in Trelawny on Wednesday blocked a section of the Martha Brae thoroughfare, leaving commuters and students stranded.
The taxi operators are protesting the poor road conditions in the area.
The demonstration is also expected to impact transport operators who use the road to transport cruise ship passengers to nearby tourist attractions.
The cruise ship terminal is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Two cruise ships have already docked at the Falmouth Port this morning.
Motorists told OBSERVER ONLINE that the pothole-riddled road is damaging their vehicles, especially the front-end parts.
They are calling on the authorities to move swiftly to rehabilitate the road.
