William Knibb rally to spank Cedric Titus 6-0
MARTHA BRAE, Trelawny — William Knibb Memorial rebounded from their draw against Cedric Titus three days ago to beat their Trelawny neighbours 6-0 in their return-round ISSA/Digicel daCosta Cup Zone C game in Martha Brae on Wednesday.
Jahiem Sankar scored a first-half hat-trick to lead William Knibb to their sixth win after the two teams had played out a 0-0 draw on Monday, ending both team’s perfect win records at five victories each.
The win took William Knibb to 19 points, three clear of Cedric Titus who had already secured their place in the second round from the previous game.
After being held goalless for the first time this season at Clarks Town on Monday, William Knibb exploded with five goals in the first half, shocking the Cedric Titus team that had only conceded three goals in their previous six games.
Amari Christopher Reid gave William Knibb the lead after just 10 minutes before Sankar took over the show and scored his treble in a 21-minute span (16th, 20th, and 37th minutes).
Orville Brown made it 5-0 in the 40th minute, while Jayar Skyers added the sixth goal in the 73rd minute.
Manchester High, meanwhile, moved to within a point of booking their place in the next round after blanking May Day High 7-0, two days after beating them 8-0.
The win took Manchester High to 22 points with one game to go against deCarteret College, who played out a 0-0 draw against contenders Belair High on Wednesday.
Both Belair, who will play Mt St Joseph Catholic High, and deCarteret College can also finish with 22 points in what is set to be a tense final round of matches in Zone F.
Former champions Frome Technical and Clarendon College both extended their perfect records to seven-straight wins as they beat Green Island High and Thompson Town, respectively.
JFrome Technical won 3-1 which took them to 21 points, while Clarendon College won their game 8-0.
