Debut EP from Braintear Spookie
In 2014 dancehall artiste Braintear Spookie got a buzz with the release of Hurt It Up. Almost eight years later he’s back with a debut EP called Sounds of Tears that sees a more vulnerable side to the usually sensual singjay.
“This is just the time for this one. I went through a lot and this is how I decided to express and process everything. I also want people to know that I can do music of this level and not just girls’ songs alone,” he told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash. “Honestly, this EP has some sad vibes. I went through something and decided to do this EP so it was all from a personal experience. This EP offers versatility. What I want people to take away from this is that I can go beyond the girl songs; I want the world to see what I am really capable of.”
The five-track set, produced by his own Braintear Music label, debuted on September 15. The track titles are Tuff Love, Time Nuh Heal, Dweet Mi Self, Hard Tackle, and Trust Issue.
Born Jason White, Braintear Spookie is from Tower Hill in St Andrew.
He has worked with producers such as DJ Frass and Mini E5 Records, Seanizzle, and TJ Records.
“I hope that this EP puts me back on top and helps me to open new doors in music,” he added.
His other singles include Lifestyle, Watch Dem, Lovathon, and Turn Up.
