Good sets at ‘Tess x Vibes’
LAST Saturday’s staging of ‘Tess x Vibes’, headlined by recording artiste Tessellated and featuring several guests, saw a good turnout of patrons.
The event was held at 22 Jerk on Barbican Road in St Andrew. In addition to Tessellated and his band The Trampoozers, the occasion saw performances from Friday Night Cru, Rizik, Sevana, Runkus, Royal Blu, Zac Jone$, Joby Jay, and a guest appearance by Protoje.
It was the event’s first staging and Tessellated says he has plans to make it a calendar event.
“I definitely want to do it even bi-annual. There’s so much talent in Jamaica and there are so many people doing their thing. There’s no shortage of people who can get up and perform so look out for future dates,” Tessellated told Jamaica Observer.
The singer explained the concept behind the event’s inaugural staging.
“For me, a lot of the artistes on this, I’ve had collaborations with them or we’ve worked on music together. I have a long set where I bring in people, we’ll do our collaboration and then transition into them doing their own segment. They bring on their guests and I come back and perform. It creates great exposure for them and it makes the whole thing effective,” said Tessellated.
“The highlight of the show for me was when Protoje came up. It was a surprise for me; I legit did not know he was going to perform. It was kind of a magical moment,” he continued.
Backed by The Trampoozers, Tessellated was in his element on stage.
“My band is filled with some really good friends and amazing musicians. Every time I’m on stage it’s like a family moment,” he shared.
His set comprised Sweeter featuring Protoje, Contact (One Drop), Pine and Ginger, and Timeline featuring Runkus.
Tessellated leaves for New York later this week for a performance and promotional work within the tri-state area.
“It’s exciting to touch back the places I’ve been to before, reconnecting with certain people and also forging new relationships. I’m always excited about performing live,” he said.
Tessellated spoke about his latest single Timeline featuring Runkus.
“That collaboration has been many years in the making. We went to the same high school together and we were in the poetry club. We’ve always supported each other over the years. This collaboration happened when we linked up last year in Los Angeles. We did some studio sessions and this is one of the records that came out of it,” Tessellated explained.
