All eyes on the return of Blue Vinyl
AFTER his third-place finish behind Atomica and Brinks in the August 6 Jamaica Derby Classic race, Blue Vinyl returns to take on rivals in a three-year-old and upwards Open Allowance call for the Cash Pot “Super Dash” Trophy.
A field of eight runners will contest the five-furlong (1,000m) round event which offers a total purse of $1.29 milliom.
Below is the analysis of the eight horses in post-position order.
1. DEJAE’S BOY: (5 dkb g by Storm Craft – Dream Big) – Finished third behind Atomica and She’s My Destiny over six furlongs (1,200m) on October 10. Dejae’s Boy is still comfortable here and should once again run a decent race.
2. EL PROFESOR: (7 b g by Casual Trick – The Principal) – Every now and then shows up with exciting efforts. El Profesor should have no problem going this distance but winning is not an option. here.
3. GO DEH GIRL (USA): (dkb f by Justin Phillip – Portificating) – This filly is known for her liking Should enjoy this sprinting ground. Of late, Go Deh Girl has been in and around most of the top runners, with this drop in grade affording her the best opportunity of a possible victory. Cannot be counted out.
4. DUKE: (6 gr h by Casual Trick – Lady McBeth) – Proven campaigner who is off the boil in recent times. Despite his poor form Duke is more than capable of winning despite allowing weight to all his rivals.
5. MADELYN’S SUNSHINE (USA): (3 dkb b/br f by Jose’s Son Joey – Madelyn’s Finest) – Talented foreigner who has won four races from five starts on local soil. Her last win came on October 8 when she easily won by 7¾ lengths in a 5 1/2-furlong (1,100m) contest in a time of 1:04.3. Madelyn’s Sunshine steps up to compete, does so in good nick, and can lead these home on a merry clip.
6. CURLIN’S AFFAIR: (4 ch c by Perfect Curlin – Nuclear Affair) – Steps down to Overnight Allowance following some good efforts against better horses. He has nothing to fear, making him a live shot.
7. LABAN: (5 b h by Sensational Slam – Fort Trixie) – Struggling to find form in recent times but dropping down in class will aid his cause of winning. Can play a part in the exotic wager.
8. BLUE VINYL: (3 ch c by Bern Identity – Blufield) – Had a successful Classic campaign, winning the 2000 Guineas and the Jamaica St Leger. Blue Vinyl is not known for his sprinting prowess with this race more looking like a prep run for the longer major event to come.
