Dominant Seaforth clip Bath to retain major league crown
Seaforth Sports Club reigned supreme by retaining the St Thomas FA Seprod Serge Major League title when they clipped Bath Sports Club 1-0 at York Oval on Sunday.
The all-important goal came from the boot of Rashann Milwood in the 81st minute, giving Seaforth their fourth-straight hold on the title.
“I am happy that I scored the winning goal. Before the match started, I know I was going to score as I followed what [coach] told me to do and I scored and I am glad,” said Millwood.
Victorious Coach Lansdale Parry says he was proud of the team and how the players have grown throughout the season.
“These boys have been with me from high school, Seaforth High…and now they are manifesting their potential, what they are really made of and I am happy for them. We want to get to the Primer League and the process has started, although there are a lot of things to be changed,” he said.
Even though Seaforth eventually won the game, Bath had their moments on goal through Danavan Williams, Jahavanie Henry, Jahvane Whittaker and Kayeel Remekie. When the flow went their way, Seaforth threatened with Jamiel Bernard, T-Vae Carr, Cleon Mitchell and Renar Edwards.
President of the St Thomas FA Wayne Thompson was grateful all round.
“I want to thank Seprod, Serge, the players, referees, members of the executives and the clubs for their participation and support,” he noted.
Business development manager at Seprod Sherida Cohen was pleased with how the tournament was run.
“Congratulations to Seaforth [as] it was a good game, and well done Bath. St Thomas is the home of Serge and it is good supporting you and you supporting us as this is a partnership. We look forward in having this partnership for years to come,” she said.
