Wolmer’s, Xamyaca season ends tonight
WOLMER’S Dance Troupe brings the curtains down on this year’s season dubbed Synergy, at the Little Theatre in St Andrew this evening. Showtime is 8:00 pm.
The season had started on Friday, after an almost three-year hiatus due to the global pandemic.
This year’s programme was expected to showcase a broad sweep of contemporary dance styles and was extended to include sister group, the Dance Troupe Xamyaca (DTX), which joined the company in performance.
According to media release, the recital is a celebration of the rebirth of dance and the bringing together of sister companies under one umbrella on stage.
“This is definitely a celebration of freedom now the pandemic is over. It’s been two and a half years not dancing so we are grateful that we can resume,” said Barbara McDaniel, artistic director for both companies.
It’s been 31 years of beating the boards and bringing entertainment to dance enthusiasts. Wolmer’s Dance Troupe and Dance Theatre Xamyaca are expected to bring the experiences and synergies of varying genre using modern, contemporary, dancehall and folk-dance styles.
According to McDaniel: “Expect to see talent in action. All the pieces are outstanding. We have dances that appeal at all levels, so everyone will find something they like. Come and be entertained.”
