Jamaican-born Donovan Bailey named among the 100 Most Influential Black Canadians
Former 100 metres world record holder Donovan Bailey has been named among the 100 Most Influential Black Canadians.
He along with other honorees were awarded at the 2022 Excellence Awards at the Meridian Arts Centre in Toronto, Canada on Saturday.
Bailey took to Instagram to share the news and express gratitude.
“I am honoured to be named as one of Canada’s 100 Most Influentioal Black Canadians, “said Bailey.
“To stand alongside these distinguished Canadians who have shaped and influenced our society is remarkable,” added the former sprinter.
Bailey broke the 100 metres world record at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games with a time of 9.84 seconds, and is a five-time Olympic and world champion.
