NEW York radio personality DJ Norie is pleased to be part of the line-up of the Issa Trust Foundation ‘For the Children’ charity gala concert scheduled for Sony Hall in Manhattan on November 12.

“I feel honoured and humbled to be a part of any cause that uplifts children and the community. The youth are our future,” he told the Jamaica Observer‘s Splash.

The event will be held under the distinguished patronage of Member of Parliament Juliet Holness, and under the auspices of the Consul General of Jamaica, New York, Alison Roach Wilson.

The aim of the event is to raise funds to construct a health centre that will provide primary care to children and adolescents in St Ann.

The Issa Trust Foundation was established in 2005 by Couples Resorts as a non-profit organisation. The mission of the foundation is to provide a system of prevention, health promotion and education, community health improvement and other services to promote the well-being and development of the Jamaican people.

Also billed for the charity gala is Third World, and Leon and the Peoples.

DJ Norie, who is of Panamanian parentage, has been in the industry for approximately 20 years and is a staple on The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 FM. He has also worked with dancehall giants such as Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, and Mavado.

He plays reggae and dancehall music during all of his sets.

Meanwhile, the disc jockey said he has other plans in the works that he hopes will materialise in short order.

“I’m always looking to learn something new, try something new and see something new. I want to work with all types of people so I stay positive to keep the opportunities coming. There is not next there is now. I have music I’m producing. I’m also opening up a food chain in NYC,” he said.
