Vibes flow at Gin ‘n’ Juice
Following the overwhelming turnout at the Cherry Garden Great House in St Andrew in July, the 90s house party — Gin ‘n’ Juice — returned with a bang at the Serengeti located at Hope Gardens on October 1.
Hundreds converged at the enthralling outdoor event that promised straight music and no long talking from selectors. Patrons were taken on a nostalgic ride down memory lane with hits from the 1990s. Richie D, Kurt Riley, and Mix Master Marvin delivered a wide selection of oldies from various genres to relive the period of music that is often considered to be the golden age of music.
Richie D had patrons dancing up a storm to P Diddy’s I Need A Girl, Elephant Man’s Wine Like A Gypsy, and Montell Jordan’s This Is How We Do It.
“The highlight of the event was special guest Mr Lexx’s masterful performance. He served up a sumptuous plate of entertainment that was eagerly lapped up by the crowd. Full Hundred, Let Those Monkeys Out and Bounce A Gal were well received by the patrons. I can’t leave out the DJs; they also did especially well and maintain a high energy throughout the night,” Gregg Smith, one of the event’s promoters, told the Jamaica Observer.
He explained that he was pleased with outcome of the event.
“Our 90s party, Gin ‘n’ Juice never disappoints and always delivers. For this staging, we give patrons an intimate feeling that they’ve come and expect without too much frills and fluff as we take it back to the days of simply great music, plenty dancing and singing,” Smith added.
Gin ‘n’ Juice was first held in 1994 at College Common in St Andrew. It is now a calendar event.
