ST ANN, Jamaica- Despite losing their first time this season and conceding a goal for the first time in their 13th game, William Knibb Memorial High School joined Dinthill Technical and Central High in the quarter-finals of the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition on Friday.

Dinthill Technical beat William Knibb Memorial 3-0 in their final Round of 16 game at Drax Hall to top Group 2 on goal-difference after both teams finished on six points.

Central High joined them after playing out a 1-1 draw against Christiana High in their Group 1 game played at Brooks Park in Mandeville.

Seven teams have booked their spots after Clarendon College and Frome Technical had booked their spots on Wednesday.

The final spot will be decided on Saturday when defending champions Garvey Maceo must beat Manchester High if they are to continue the defense of their title.

Manchester High on four points needs only a draw to advance.

After losing their first game of the round, Dinthill Technical roared back with consecutive wins and after dismissing Paul Bogle High 2-0 on Tuesday, ended William Knibb Memorial’s unbeaten run.

Kimani Small opened the scoring in the 15th minute, the first goal conceded by William Knibb in 1,095 minutes as they had gone the previous 12 games without letting in a goal.

Giovannie Afflick added a second late in the first half and Daniel Roberts killed off any hopes of a comeback when he scored in the second half.

Dinthill Technical won the group on goal-difference as they had four goals to William Knibb’s negative 1.

Cornwall College had their own fate in their hands and led 2-0 after 23 minutes but dropped their guards and gave up two goals in a nine- minute span.

Braxton Richards scored from headers in the 17 th and 23 rd minutes and the 12- time champions were well in control of the game and seemingly well on their way back to the quarter-finals.

Tajhean Mayne pulled one back for Paul Bogle High in the 31 st minute when he was allowed time one the right hand side of the Cornwall College 18- yard box and fired high into the top right hand corner.

Jaydon James pulled them level in the 40 th minute when he dribbled down the left side, cut inside and his shot from just outside the 18 ‘yard box looped into the far corner of the goal.
