THE annual Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival Florida edition celebrates its 20th anniversary this Sunday, November 13, at the Miramar Regional Park in Miramar.

The festival offers a variety of entertainment and cultural activities, including the Western Union Cultural Stage, cooking demonstrations and competitions at the Publix Culinary Pavilion, the Grace Village and the Partner for Youth Foundation Pickney Korner featuring storytelling, traditional games and fun activities.

The Hot Zone, which was introduced seven years ago, is ready to bring the party within the event. DJ Supa Twitch, DJ Richie D, 99 Jamz jock She-J Hercules and DJ House Arrest have been commissioned to blaze a musical inferno.

“The Hot Zone is a party within the party featuring top deejays. This year, we’re featuring DJs from Jamaica and the US. We carefully handpicked our DJs who have made themselves known for being masters of the music from all genres,” Jody Ann Gray, a member of the festival’s organising committee, told the Jamaica Observer.

“Supa Twitch is dubbed the grandfather of music, Richie D who is known to spin the best hits of the past, DJ House Arrest is known for the baddest mixes of soca, and our only female DJ is She-J Hercules from 99 Jamz in Miami. The Hot Zone will begin at 6:00 pm and end 10:00 pm and is included in the overall admission to the festival… The Hot Zone gives patrons an opportunity to dance to uninterrupted musical hits in a real party atmosphere. It also allows patrons to get real value for their buck as they can go between the live entertainment on the main stage to our DJs spinning tunes in this area,” she continued.

The main stage performance line-up is a diverse one which will satisfy the palates of festival fans, as it will feature Tarrus Riley, Cham and his all-female band, Romain Virgo and Christopher Martin.

The annual signature Caribbean event combines food and entertainment with activities for every member of the family. This milestone year celebrates the festival’s 20th anniversary, Jamaica’s 60th Independence anniversary and title sponsor Grace Foods’ 100th anniversary.

Reggae singer Tarrus Riley is expected to delight, having racked up a string of hits under his belt including She’s Royal, Lion Paw, Contagious, and Good Girl Gone Bad.

Making his Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival debut, Cham and his all-female band will flavour the festival with a selection of dancehall hits, including Ghetto Story, Vitamin S, Wow, and Fighter.

Singers Christopher Martin and Romain Virgo will perform together in a musical treat for fans with an established catalogue of hit records from both artistes such as Glow, Leave People Business, I’m A Big Deal, and Soul Provider.
