My father and his neighbour owned land that required them to use the railway track owned by the Jamaica Railway Corporation (JRC) to get to their properties. I inherited the land and for over 10 years I have been trying to get a title for the land through the Land Administration and Management Programme (LAMP).

In order for my neighbour and I to get titles for the land through LAMP, the agency required us to sign a deed of easement to cross over rail track contract with the JRC. Each of us was required to pay the JRC $50,000 in order to get an altered version of the easement contract. However, LAMP was not in agreement with the altering of the easement contract and negotiated with the JRC for a new contract to be prepared.

Five years ago the JRC informed me that they would send the new easement contract to LAMP, but when I checked with them in May 2022, they said that the JRC had not sent the contract to them. Because the JRC has still not sent the contract to LAMP, I am unable to get my father’s land title from them.

I would appreciate your help in sorting out this matter.

When Tell Claudienne contacted the Jamaica Railway Corporation (JRC) the spokesman insisted that they had given you the easement contract to take to LAMP.

However, on investigation the JRC realised that they had made an error.

Tell Claudienne notes that the JRC has now prepared a new contract and that it was given to you to take to LAMP.
