No arrests in Western Union, shipping company break-in – cops
ST ANN, Jamaica — Police have not yet identified or held any suspects in connection with the break-in of a Western Union outlet and a shipping company in St Ann two Fridays ago.
More than $1 million was stolen from the Western Union, and at least $20,000 was taken from the shipping company, which is owned by former government minister Othneil Lawrence.

Head of the St Ann Division, Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell, said the police were still probing the break-in.
“We are still looking into it, we haven’t made any breakthrough as yet,” SSP Powell told OBSERVER ONLINE.
The businesses are located in a store in Coombs Plaza on Main Street in Moneague.
Police said the robbery was carried out by six men, all masked and wearing gloves. The men gained access to the store after they cut open the grille gate at the entrance and then broke a glass door.
The culprits reportedly cut open the steel door in the Western Union outlet and stole the vault before taking the $20,000 from the shipping company. The vault contained cash amounting to $1.6 million.
During the incident, the store’s alarm system was triggered, a security firm was notified, and the police called.
Lawmen and an armed security response team rushed to the scene. Subsequent investigations revealed that wires to the camera systems at the store were cut.
