Edwin Allen to defend Ben Francis KO

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Defending champions Edwin Allen High School and former winners, Glenmuir High School, will contest the final of the ISSA Ben Francis Knock-Out after beating Rusea’s High and York Castle High respectively in Wednesday’s semi-finals played at the St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex.

Edwin Allen beat former winners Rusea’s High 3-0 after Glenmuir High had beaten first time semi-finalists York Castle High 2-0 in the first game of the double header.

The results mean that both rural area Under-19 football titles will reside in Clarendon after Clarendon College and Central High will play in the daCosta Cup final.

Edwin Allen will be the first Ben Francis KO champions to defend the title in years and would be the first to retain the title since 2015 when St Elizabeth Technical won their sixth straight title.

Tajae Thomas shot Edwin Allen into the lead from as early as the second minute, pushing Rusea’s back on their heels and Clayton Peck made it 2-0 after 16 minutes.

Alwayen Bryan made it 3-0 three minutes into the second half.

In the first game, David Reid scored twice, once in each half as Glenmuir High dominated York Castle High who ended their best season ever in senior schoolboy football.

Reid scored his first in the 13th minute when he ran all the way from just inside his own half, past one defender and with only goalkeeper Marco Thompson to beat at the top of the 18-yard box, rolled the ball into an unguarded goal.

He added the second in the 62nd minute after a defender missed a low cross from the right and he was perfectly placed to tap in from about two yards out.
