Christmas Day 2022 to be celebrated on Monday, December 26
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has announced that in accordance with the Holiday (Public General) Act, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day will both be observed on Monday, December 26 and Monday, January 2, respectively.
The Ministry made the disclosure in a release on Thursday. It pointed out that according to the Holiday (Public General) Act, whenever Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, Monday will be observed as the official holiday. This means that Boxing Day which is usually celebrated on December 26, will now be celebrated on December 27.
Similarly, as New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday, Monday, January 2, 2023, will be observed as a Public General Holiday.
