Over 22,000 electors added to voters’ list- EOJ
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) is reporting that 22,117 persons have been added to the National Voters’ List that was updated and published on Wednesday.
The agency added that the new list now has a total of 2,001,759 electors who are eligible to vote in the upcoming local government election scheduled for February 2023.
Those added to the November 30 list will be given the new voter ID, which should become available by the end of December 2022, the EOJ said on Friday in a statement.
“Electors added to the November 30, 2022 list will receive the new voter ID card with a December 31, 2032 expiry date. ID cards for these electors will become available by the end of December and should be collected by electors at the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) office in the constituency where they are registered,” the EOJ informed.
As for people who have not yet renewed their ID cards, the EOJ said that they still have an opportunity to do so by visiting any of the agency’s constituency offices.
The offices facilitate the collection and renewal of voter IDs on Mondays to Thursdays 8:30am to 5:00pm, and Fridays 8:30am to 4:00pm.
Electors may also check the Electoral Commission of Jamaica website at www.ecj.com.jm/voter-id-card-renewal/ to find a list of locations.
The next voters’ list is scheduled to be published on May 31, 2023.
