The Mitchells score at Fan Central
CVM TV’s mecca to the Fifa World Cup in Qatar — Fan Central — was converted to reality TV ground zero with the hosting of Meet the Mitchells’ premiere on Thursday evening.
Those making the pilgrimage to the Waterloo Road, St Andrew ‘shrine’, included members of the entertainment fraternity, social media influencers, sponsors, friends, and family members.
Former singer and radio host Tami Chynn stars in the series, alongside her hubby singjay Wayne Marshall, sons, and nanny Momo.
Chynn was pleased that the YouTube series has now transitioned to a wider audience on CVM TV.
“People had a pre-conceived idea of who we were and what we did, so I think it was, in a weird way, refreshing to see that our kitchen was ‘popping’ down, our children giving us trouble and we go through very similar things to other people. So, to be sitting here tonight and knowing that so many people from across Jamaica are watching us on CVM TV just really warms my heart and I am very excited,” said Chynn in an interview at the premiere.
Wayne Marshall, whose given name is Wayne Mitchell, was equally elated at the ‘elevation’ of the social media series.
“I’m proud of us, I am proud of our family. I’m happy that our normal lives entertain, inspire, uplift and people can laugh at us and with us. My overarching theme that I aspire to is to bring functional family values back to the forefront. We try so many things to help heal society, so I feel like, let’s try to bring back some family values and start from there and see if that can have a real tangible impact on the society. That is my deeper mission statement. but other than that, we are just bringing realness to reality TV. It’s not scripted; we are just showing up as we are. As we learn, the viewers will learn and as we grow; they can grow as well,” said Wayne Marshall.
Social media influencer Kerry-Ann “Chiney K” Collins had high praises for Meet the Mitchells.
“I absolutely love Tami and Wayne. I love what they stand for when it comes to showing family values in Jamaica. As a new mom, it’s definitely great to learn from their family. I’m so excited for them and it’s definitely a good look to bring Meet the Mitchells to a wider audience,” she said.
Meet the Mitchells chronicles day-to-day life of the celebrity couple as they raise a family. Chin’s sister singer Tessanne Chin, and the couple’s parents also make guest appearances on the series. It airs each match day at 8:00 pm on CVM TV with a repeat the following day at 4:30 pm.
Fan Central — located at the Girl Guides Association headquarters on 2 Waterloo Road in St Andrew — is CVM TV‘s home for the televised World Cup football matches, as well as pre- and post-game shows. Fans are encouraged to visit the location, watch the matches and be entertained.
