Two killed in St Elizabeth crashes

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Two people died as a result of injuries they sustained in separate crashes in St Elizabeth on Sunday.

In the first incident, the deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Jaheim Calbert, a resident of Harmony Lane in Santa Cruz.

A police report said about 12:05 am, Calbert was driving a Nissan Note motorcar easterly on the Gilnock main road near Santa Cruz when it collided with a Subaru Legacy motor car travelling in the opposite direction.

Calbert and the two occupants of the Subaru sustained injuries and were taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The others were admitted for treatment.

In the second incident, police identified the deceased as 32-year-old Kadian Hylton, a resident of Spring Park in St Elizabeth.

A police report said about 3:30 am, four people were travelling in a Toyota Corolla motor car when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a concrete utility pole on the New Holland main road.

The four people sustained injuries.

Firefighters were called to assist in removing the injured people from the mangled car.

Hylton succumbed to injuries at hospital.
