She’s My Destiny wins Chris Armond Sprint in new stakes record
In another super sprinting display, the Jason DaCosta-trained She’s My Destiny easily brushed aside rivals to win the $2-million Christopher “Chris” Armond Sprint Trophy feature race over five-and-a-half furlongs (1,100m) at Caymanas Park on Monday.
Ridden by Omar Walker, She’s My Destiny romped home in the three-year-old and upward Open Allowance/Graded Stakes contest by 5 lengths in a new stakes record of 1:04.4.
It was an even start for most of the runners in the small field of six, and after a couple of strides, She’s My Destiny burst through the pack and picked up the lead going into the half-mile (800m) turn, chased by God of Love (Dane Dawkins) and Eagle One (Jordan Barrett).
Turning for home with a healthy lead, She’s My Destiny turned on the pressure in the deep stretch and cruised home to win on a common canter at the wire. Duke (Robert Halledeen) came home in second place, and God of Love finished third.
