Simmons and Dottin were two of the best WI cricketers
Dear Editor,
Lendl Simmons and Deandra Dottin were two of the best players on the West Indies Men’s and Women’s cricket teams.
Dottin was next to Captain Stephanie Taylor as two of the best players on the team, especially when it came to batting and putting runs on the board and making big scores. She was indeed a very good player and was also very useful with the ball as a wicket-taker from the land of Barbados.
Simmons, on the other hand, to me, did not get the respect he deserved. He made some big scores and when he was in form he could be dangerous. Sometimes, while looking good at the crease, he got out cheaply.
We don’t know why these two talented players have retired, but if it’s because of petty matters, I don’t accept that. And no one seems to be talking about them much.
I truly miss them from the game, very much. They are still young enough to continue playing and should never have retired.
