Education ministry warns public of free laptop scheme

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Education and Youth is advising members of the public, especially students, to be cautious of a fake ‘Students Laptop Scheme 2023’ claiming to be associated with the ministry.

The fake offer claims that the scheme is open to all students who, for financial reasons, are not in a position to purchase a laptop of their own and are in need of a device for educational purposes.

“Principals, teachers and the general public are being warned to be wary of clicking on the link,” said Minister of Education and Youth Fayval Williams.

The laptop scheme also claims that 960,000 students are to receive free laptops.
