Make Up Artist has to be caught in Overnight five straight

The three-year-old and upwards Overnight Allowance call for the Security Department Trophy offers the largest purse on the nine-race programme at Caymanas Park tomorrow (Saturday, January 7, 2023).

Eleven runners are set to compete in the 5-furlong (1,000m) straight event.

Below, The Supreme Racing Guide takes a close look at the runners and their chances of winning.

1. ATONEMENT: (5 dkb m by Northern Giant—Crafty Lady)—Comes into this race off two straight victories at this distance. Atonement steps up to compete in Overnight. She is going to be hard pressed to land a blow.

2. JOHNCROWJEFF: (5 b g by Natural Selection—Sweetyourock)—Finished fourth at this distance by a length and a half behind Emperorofthecats on December 18. With second-place finisher The Good Witch present again, Johncrowjeff‘s chances of winning here are very slim., with a place on the board his best possible option.

3. MAKE UP ARTIST: (6 b m by Adore The Gold – Lipstick Lily) – Ran no race in the recent Mouttet Mile (invitational) when finishing in last place. Make Up Artist drops down in class to compete for this trophy, and she does so in good form, appearing to be the horse to beat on paper. Make Up Artist won at this distance last year in a time of 1:00.2. She will have to be caught.

4. TAURUS BOY (USA): (5 b h by Speightster – MC Duffie) – Has no realistic chance of winning.

5. THE GOOD WITCH (USA): (6 b m by Tale Of The Cat – Witch Craft) – Finished a length behind Emperorofthecats over the straight on December 18. If this foreigner can reproduce that effort again, then The Good Witch will be running for a slice of the pie.

6. NUCLEAR NOON: (5 b h by Nuclear Wayne—Noon It Is)—Off the board in his last race over 6 furlongs (1,200 m) behind I’ve Got Magic on December 11. That was Nuclear Noon’s first effort after returning from an injury break and despite winning over this distance on April 3, 2022, in 59.4, is going to need time to be at his best.

7. CURLIN’S AFFAIR: (5 ch h by Perfect Curlin – Nuclear Affair) – Curlin’s Affair is struggling for form, finishing down the rack in his last three outings, thereby suggesting that winning this one is limited. However, he has kept better company, and given the nature of this race, Curlin‘s Affair can turn around his form and challenge for top honours.

8. RNCSSHOOTINGSTAR🙁4 b f by Buzz Nightmare – Khaleesi’s Revenge) – A winner over this distance on January 2. Prncsshootingstar is unlikely to win again, especially racing at this higher level for the first occasion.

9. SPARKLE DIAMOND (USA): (7 ch h by Include – Myntz Connection) – Has not fulfilled his early promise. Sparkle Diamond has raced six times over this distance and has won only once. He is will be at his very best to beat these, plus he has had his issues with injuries.

10. GENERATIONAL: (6 ch g by Fearless Vision – Electrifying) – Generational is going to be left behind.

11. ARTESIA: (5 gr m by Sensational Slam – Runaway Julie) – Cannot be recommended for a winning run.
