Hundreds of residents of August Town and nearby communities benefited from a health and wealth seminar and fair put on by Emmanuel Apostolic Church of August Town on Saturday as part of the eastern St Andrew-based institution’s community outreach programme.

The church handed out over 200 care packages; carried out health checks; and gave valuable advice on insurance, savings, and investment options.

Presiding bishop of Emmanuel Apostolic Church International, Everton Thomas told the Jamaica Observer on Saturday that the effort by the church was a part of its ‘Touching lives with love’ initiative, which he described as a “growing activity”.

Pastor Ripley Shaw, who has headed the August Town church for 15 years, labelled the day a success and expressed the hope, like his senior bishop, that sponsors and donors will get on board as the church seeks to broaden its activities in a bid to improve the lives of people, generally.
