KINGSTON, Jamaica— The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) on Tuesday said that it does not currently hold any accounts at Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL) and never did.

The party went on to state in a release that it has complete confidence that the government will use the legal powers allotted to them to resolve the issues of the alleged fraud at SSL.

“We have full confidence that the Minister of Finance, the Executive and the agencies with responsibility for investigating these matters will leave no stone unturned to find out who allegedly stole money from the clients of Stocks and Securities Limited,” said JLP General Secretary Dr Horace Chang.

He added: “We express regret at the loss suffered by those impacted and ask that the government continue to be aggressive in empowering the investigative authorities.”

News broke recently of fraudulent activities at the financial institution amounting to more than $1.2 billion which has reportedly affected more than 30 people, including Olympian Usain Bolt.

Dr Chang went on to call on those with information related to the fraud scandal at SSL to cooperate fully with the authorities.
