Suspected fabricated e-mails used to move funds from SSL accounts
A series of e-mails, said to have been fabricated by a former employee of Stocks and Securities Ltd (SSL), was used to move funds from the accounts of at least two investors, documents seen by OBSERVER ONLINE have shown.
One of the e-mails, sent in February 2021, gave ‘authority’ to pay US$18,500 to an individual, while another, sent in July 2021, authorised the transfer of shares from overseas companies, including Apple, Facebook and Berkshire Hataway, to an account of another individual.
A source close to the development told OBSERVER ONLINE that the e-mail address from which the requests were sent were not created or held by the investor whose account was breached.
