Dancehall newcomer 1Vipa has urged veteran entertainers to become mentors to the new generation of Jamaican entertainers.

“I would like to see more unity amongst the old generation and the new generation of artistes in Jamaica. It would be nice to see legends like Shabba Ranks, Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Capleton, Bounty Killer, Beres Hammond, and Ken Boothe sharing their knowledge with the youngsters in the business through a mentorship program. This would help to strengthen our music and make it more viable in the international music marketplace,” 1Vipa said.

The deejay is confident that it won’t be long before he becomes a force to be reckoned with in dancehall music.

“My musical style is very appealing because it’s aggressive and melodic at the same time. Some of my songs are hardcore while some of them are smooth and mellow. I have found a winning formula and my music is gaining traction. So, I know it’s only a matter of time before I get the big break,” he said.

1Vipa is currently promoting ‘Jeepers Creepers’, released by Bvrban Musiq.

“The song was released in December last year and I am very pleased with the response it’s receiving. I am grateful to all the DJs who have been giving the song support,” he said.

1Vipa given name Je’-Keyshi McIntosh was born and raised in Kingston. He launched his recording career in 2019 with the release of a single titled ‘Big Drip’.
