Michael Ammar Jr, co-director of Bacchanal Jamaica, says the team is pulling out all the stops for a Mardi Gras edition of Rum For Breakfast (RFB) come Saturday.

“This is the first RFB since the pandemic. Of course, we had one in Summer, but this is the first Carnival RFB in a few years, and we’re doing quite a lot different. The décor is going to be completely different and we’ll have offerings of about three or four speciality drinks on entry.”

The event is slated for Hope Zoo in St Andrew. Musical selections will come courtesy of disc jockeys Franco, Tyler, Cyclone, Fyahmatic, Matt Camps, and Patrick The Hypeman from Trinidad.

“We also have quite a good line-up of DJs and we’re adding bottle service. Last time we added cabanas, so now we’re adding the bottle service,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Meanwhile, the co-director disclosed his excitement about the theme in alignment with the atmosphere organisers are aiming to create for patrons.

“We’re also doing giveaways to match the décor. We’re doing a Mardi Gras theme, so we’ll be giving away masks, mugs, beads…to make it seem like Mardi Gras. “We did it [Mardi Gras] long ago for [Bacchanal] Friday Night, and we figured we hadn’t seen it for a long time, so why not? It’s very festive,” Ammar Jr added.

Bacchanal Jamaica is celebrating its 21st anniversary this year. Last November, the entity joined forces with Xodus Carnival to promote togetherness in the Jamaican Carnival sphere.

Ammar Jr further said the partnership has proven fruitful, so far.

“It’s very good, but RFB is solely a Bacchanal event, although I’m sure you’ll see the Xodus directors there. Bacchanal Fridays, which is the 31st of this month formed a partnership with the guys from Yesterday [another entertainment brand] and that will add a new element to our 21st anniversary, and Xodus has joined us for that as well. Xodus and Red Antz have also joined us for Bacchanal J’Ouvert,” he said.
