Holmwood Technical girls will be gunning for their 11th title at the 2023 instalment of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

Holmwood’s strength will definitely be found in the middle-distance events in which they will be led by Florence Nafamba. Still a Class Two athlete, the Ugandan is odds-on favourite to win the Open 2,000m steeplechase and 3,000m. Over those distances she has the leading times of 7:10.22 minutes and 10:25.85 minutes, respectively.

Jodyann Mitchell is the leader in the Class One 1,500m with a time of 4:30.31.

In Class Two, Cindy Rose will lead the charge as her 2:13.16 has her ranked at number two in the 800m, with her 1,500m time of 4:44.53 placing her second, just ahead of her teammate Andrene Peart (4:49.41).

Rickiann Russell is the top name in the 400 metres with a time of 51.74 seconds and she will be hoping to go all the way in Class One quarter-mile event and should pick up valuable points in the 200 metres.

Holmwood will also be banking on Class Two sprint hurdler Kiera Meikle, the event leader with 13.16 seconds, while in Class One Annalice Brady is ranked number three in the 400 metres hurdle with a time of 58.99 seconds.

World Under-20 representative Cedricka Williams will be hoping to secure good field events points for her team and is the big favourite to win the Class One discus event which she leads this season with a mark 55.25m.
