Irwin Academy seek fourth-straight win in Sandals U-17
IRWIN, St James — Irwin Academy will be seeking a fourth-straight win today when they take on St James High at Irwin High in the St James Football Association Sandals Resorts International Under-17 competition.
Irwin High have won their previous three games and lead the points tables with nine, two more than St James High and Athletes in Action (AIA) who will play St James Academy in the first game of a double-header at Irwin High.
In the other game, Green Pond will take on Montego Bay Boys’ Club at Green Pond.
Irwin Academy are coming off a big 5-0 win over St James Academy last week and will hope to get the better of St James High who play out a 1-1 draw against AIA as both teams lost their perfect win records.
Detroy Reid, who scored the league’s first hat-trick last week, has scored six of Irwin Academy’s eight goals scored so far and he will be expected to continue his scoring run.
St James High led AIA last week but had to settle for a draw and will seek to get back to winning ways today with a win over Irwin Academy.
AIA should get back in the winning column when they take on a St James Academy team that are sitting at the foot of the tables and are yet to earn a point.
AIA and St James High are tied on the same statistics of six goals for and two against, while St James Academy have conceded 11 goals.
Green Pond are on six points and in fourth place and will hope to stay in semi-final contention when they play Montego Bay Boys’ Club at Green Pond.
Granville United, who are on three points, will host Montego Bay United at Granville.
