WATCH: #Champs2023 – KC athlete inconsolable after tripping out of medal spot
Kingston College’s Nicardo Clarke was inconsolable after missing out on a podium spot following a collision with a Calabar athlete in the Class 2 boys’ 100m finals at the 2023 Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium on Wednesday.
Clarke was racing towards the finish line in third spot when he was accidentally tripped by Calabar’s Khamani Gordon. The collision made him unbalance and saw him fade to fifth in the race which was won by Shaquane Gordon of Calabar ahead of second-placed Tramaine Todd of St Elizabeth Technical and Dontae Watson of Jamaica College in third.
After the race, Clarke was in tears and had to be restrained by Kingston College administrative staff members from apparently confronting Gordon. Watch the video captured by the Jamaica Observer’s Garfield Robinson.
