British rapper Jethro “Alonestar” Sheeran is celebrating a victory after his track I’m A Star made its way to number 10 on the iTunes Dance Chart in the US this week.

“I expected it to do well as it was produced by Ugandan Billboard producer Herbert Skillz and myself, the main, [who is a] Billboard number one artiste. Sean Edwards executively produced the song; putting all the elements together, and it features Ed Sheeran and one of the world’s leading rappers, DaBaby, so it was a sure hit from the start, we all felt,” Jethro Sheeran told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash.

The former model/actor previously had songs on the Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica, Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica: Reggae Collector’s Edition, and Jamaican Garrison Christmas collections.

Sheeran moved to south London as a teenager and later resided between Trinidad and the UK. He revealed that he grew up on reggae music and has become fond of some of the island’s musicians.

“I love Jamaican music from back when I was born and young in the 80s to the current day. I love Capelton and Sizzla, and the more current artistes, like Skirdle Sparta and his father Tommy Lee Sparta, who is such a great artiste,” he said.

Prior to music, Sheeran worked as a model in London for 15 years. He appeared in several commercials, music videos and ad campaigns for Calvin Klein, Armani, Coca-Cola, and Budweiser.

He also wrote and produced songs for Ed and was in the movie Judge Dredd with Sylvester Stallone.

Sheeran’s production credits also include songs with rapper The Game and British outfit Massive Attack.

In the meantime, the British artiste said he will be visiting Jamaica soon to work on collaborations with various members of the local fraternity.

“I am visiting Jamaica this summer 100 per cent to shoot two music videos. I hope we get time to shoot one with Tommy Lee and [Skirdle] Sparta and I’m working in a huge big project with Makonnen Blake-Hanna and Sizzla, so we are meeting up at his studio in Jamaica,” he said.
