Jamaica’s reggae quartet LUST is readying the official music video for their latest single, Ready To Party, slated for release on Friday.

The track, which was released in December 2022, appears on the Hot Box Rhythm produced by the group’s very own Singing Melody.

“This track is very different from any of the lovers’ rock songs that we’ve ever done or are known for,” Singing Melody told the Jamaica Observer.

Ready To Party is the first single to be released on the rhythm. The others to follow will include You Can Do This by Singing Melody, Affirmation by Prohgres, Dutty Wata by Hawk Eye and Bring It To Him by Lymie Murray. DYCR will also be making a contribution with Zum Zum.

According to Singing Melody, all artistes were intricately chosen to be a part of the project.

“I knew the type project that I wanted to work on, so finding the artistes was very easy because I knew the artistes that would be great on this kind of riddim. So my engineer Mr Famous and I brainstormed the type of beat that would be a perfect fit. We discussed the idea with drummer/producer ‘Kirkledove’ to create the beat for the project. I wrote the first track titled You Can Do This, which is the first track to be recorded on the riddim. After that, everything came in full flight so I started calling DYCR, Prohgres, Hawk Eye, Lymie Murray and LUST to be a part of this positive movement,” he explained.

Launched in 1997, LUST also comprises singers Lukie D, Thriller U and Tony Curtis, who all have solo careers.

LUST, which stands for Love, Understanding, Sensitivity and Trust, came to prominence after the members performed at the MIDEM 97 festival in France. That year, the group scored a number one hit on the local charts with Sweetness of Your Love, produced by Bankeylous Productions.

In 1998 LUST set a record when they won five awards at the Jamaica Music Industry Awards, including Best New Artiste, Best Live Performance (Group) and Best Vocal Performance (Group). The group also took home two Binns Music Awards.

In 2019 LUST was on stage again at arguably the most anticipated show in years, the Buju Banton ‘Long Walk to Freedom’ concert at the National Stadium in Kingston, and again in Queens Savannah Park, Trinidad. That same year, the group came together at the famous Big Yard Studios and performed a nearly one-hour freestyle set for BBC Radio 1xtra. LUST also gave a memorable set at the Intimate Concert in St Ann on New Year’s Day.

Singing Melody, and by extension LUST, has already carved a legacy for themselves in the music sphere. He added that he hopes the momentum going.

“My hope for music is to keep on evolving or just to keep reinventing myself or wheel of great music,” Singing Melody said.
