Vows: ‘Collin’ Her Mrs
It appeared written in the stars that Collin McPherson and Kadesha Hanson would meet, fall in love and chart their life course together.
Their first encounter, as two University of the West Indies, Mona students who enjoyed good food and fellowship, was at a potluck hosted by the Advent Fellowship Club. “That night I recall seeing many unfamiliar faces, including his, but his face stood out the most and I invited him to join our group,” Kadesha told Tuesday Style Vows (TSV). Kadesha went a step further and asked Collin for the use of his back as support (a backrest) during the picnic. No surprise that by the end of the picnic the two had formed a friendship.
In fact, as the months progressed, Collin and Kadesha spent any free time they had basking in each other’s company. Evidently, a love story was writing itself as Collin extolled Kadasha’s beauty, charm and witty personality.
But relationships come with challenges, alas, and theirs ended abruptly. Thankfully, true love always wins! During the break they stayed in touch and maintained their friendship. A Bible study together would later rekindle the old flame and lead to Collin’s proposal on May 15, 2022 as she was ending her usual Sunday morning hike on Braeton Hill, Portmore. Kadesha accepted and described it as “one of the most sweetest ways”.
Holy Matrimony
The nuptials were, in the words of the newly-weds, a fairy tale come true. Together, they had spent months planning the intimate boho-themed wedding that was held on January 29, 2023 at the Caymanas Golf Club with Kaylee’s Events decorating the outdoor event with dried pampas grass and burnt orange rose petals.
A Thousand Years by Christina Perry signalled Kadesha’s arrival. She stunned in a white lace appliqué chiffon gown and sweeping train, a perfect complement to Collin’s three-piece, white-silver tuxedo.
There was nary a dry eye as Collin and Kadesha serenaded guests with the song Would You Still Love Me by Brian Nhira, which was followed by emotional, and heartfelt vows they had both written where Kadesha described Collin’s love for her as being very similar to the unwavering love that Christ has for his church — the bride. Kadesha told TSV that it was, without a doubt, the best and most memorable day of their lives!
Pastor Deron Miller officiated.
The Soirée
The boho burnt orange, royal blue and white theme continued into the main hall where the wedding party made their entrance to a medley of their favourite songs.
Mr and Mrs Collin McPherson made their grand entrance to the strains of Rema’s popular Calm Down. It was there that their gifted emcee and friend Chip Sutherland paved the way for an exhilarating evening of games, jokes, an exquisite three-course dinner, wine tasting and the cutting of the vegan vanilla cake with strawberry filling designed by @bakes_by_brittz.
The couple shared their first dance as newly-weds to You Are The Reason by Calum Scott, which segued into a bridal party dance-off to Jerusalema. The dance floor was then opened to allow everyone to express themselves until the event ended.
The lovebirds honeymooned on the beautiful island of Curaçao.
