Marion Hall will return to Reggae Sumfest this summer. It will be her first time gracing the Catherine Hall stage since making history in 2015 as the first female artiste to close the show. It will also be her first appearance at the event since being baptised and will mark her debut as Minister Marion Hall on the biggest reggae stage.

The significance of the occasion not being lost on her, the devout Christian said in a Facebook Live session on Wednesday that she plans on turning up for Jesus in more ways than one.

Minister Hall divulged that she was given the opportunity to choose which night she would perform and opted to lineup on Festival Night Two alongside acts such as Gramps Morgan, Freddie McGregor and Lieutenant Stitchie.

“I got to choose my night and I chose to go on the night with Gramps Morgan, a Jesus man, and like Freddie McGregor (I’m praying for him to be strengthened), King Jammys will be honoured that night, Lieutenant Stitchie is on the night that I’m on so it’s a night with some powerful people of God,” she said.

Adding that the Word of God needs to start circulating the streets again, Minister Hall pleaded for help with her cause. She expressed that if there was ever a time the word needed to get to the people of Jamaica, it is now as she believes the country is in a spiritual warfare.

“I believe that if there is a time for people to get into the Word of God it’s now because we are at war. The devil is out, there is so much mess in this Earth and even our island Jamaica. We need the word in the streets, we need the Bible even in the shops so when you go in the shop you can just take up a Bible and read a Psalm and just put it down back for the next person who come to buy some sugar, some salt, whatever they come to buy,” she said, revealing that she wants to hand out at least 2,000 Bibles.

“I want to buy about (2,000) or 3,000 Bibles and I saw one with a good deal. The large prints are very expensive but the one that everyone can see and there’s good reviews on this, they are US$3,526 we can get 2,000. I want to take them to Sumfest with me. I want to issue out the Bibles,” she said, adding that the show’s frontrunner, Josef Bogdanovich is on board with her mission.

“I told Mr Joe from Downsound and I said that what I want is five lines or six of people and we start giving out at the front of each line and people just passing them down to the back. Joe told me that he would give me an address in Miami for where I could get it shipped from,” she expressed. “We need to fight for our island, our state, our country and how best to fight than with the Word of God so I want you to help me to purchase Bibles.”

Although it would be a first at Reggae Sumfest, it would not be Minister Hall’s first time handing out Bibles in a public forum. Months after getting baptised in 2015, the freshly-minted Christian distributed Bibles to prisoners at the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Centre.
