Cornwall AIA wins third game in Sandals under-15
ST JAMES, Jamaica— Cornwall College AIA won their third straight game in the St James Football Association Sandals Resorts International Under-15 competition after beating Athletes In Action (AIA) 5-1 at the UDC Field on Thursday.
Kavontea Gooden and Ameche Robinson both scored braces for Cornwall College AIA who led 3-1 at halftime and raced to nine points at the top of the tables.
Green Pond High will seek to stay in second place when the competition continues on Friday with two games as they host Our Kids Academy, while Montego Bay Boys Club and St James High will both be seeking their first win when they meet at the UDC Field.
Thursday’s game got off to a fast start with three goals in the first nine minutes. Gooden shot Cornwall College AIA into the lead in the third minute but Shaheem Bernard equalised for AIA in the fifth minute.
Robinson restored Cornwall College AIA’s lead in the ninth minute and they had to wait until the 20th minute for Gooden to score his second goal of the game to make the score 3-1.
Javier Medley made it 4-1 when he scored in the 50th minute before Robinson completed his brace in the 65th minute.
