Mt Pleasant in 7th heaven against Chapleton
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Atapharoy Bygrave scored his first Jamaica Premier League hat trick as he led Mt Pleasant FA to a 7-0 drubbing of relegation-bound Chapleton Maroons in their return round game played at Jamaica College on Monday.
It was the first meeting between the teams in the JPL this season after Chapleton forfeited the first-round game and was docked six points as a result, which set them on the course of relegation.
Devonte Stewart came off the bench to score a double as Mt Pleasant move to 45 points in third place, behind leaders Arnett Gardens on 49 and Cavalier FC on 46 points.
In the first game, Rohan Brown, who was brought on in the second half, scored a double as Dunbeholden beat Vere United 3-1.
Bygrave scored in the 16th, 50th and 78th minutes for Mt Pleasant, who were winning back-to-back games, while Campbell put the “icing on the cake” when he scored in the 81st and 85th minutes.
Dwight Merrick in the 39th minute and Ricardo Morris in the 48th also got on the score sheet.
Dunbeholden kept their playoff hopes alive after their win over Vere United coming from a goal down.
Jason Dyer broke the deadlock in the 57th minute but Brown drew Dunbeholden level in the 67th minute, another second-half substitute Jevon Fletcher put them ahead in the 80th minute before Brown sealed the win by scoring in time added on.
