Not Ewers But Higgins

Not Ewers But Higgins

The beginning of a love story was set in motion when Romaine Higgins sent a message on Facebook to Glenesha Ewers. A brave approach, many might argue. Thankfully, Glenesha was intrigued by his charm and wit and in fact had met him at a concert.

“The more I spoke with Glenesha, the more I fell in love. She was so vulnerable everytime we spoke and that really touched me and gave me a different feel to her,” Romaine told Tuesday Style Vows (TSV). For Glenesha, she saw the sincerity in Romaine’s love for God. “He was also very careful with the most vulnerable parts of me,” she shared. Falling in love was by all accounts very easy.

“Yes! Yes! Yes!”

Romaine popped the question at Macau restaurant. According to Glenesha, “The proposal was definitely one for the books!”

Romaine divulged to TSV the strategic blueprint behind his execution, stating, “I didn’t want to propose to her during dinner or before dinner. This would have been too expected.”

“I threw her off by purporting to leave the restaurant. It did! ‘Twas the festive season, and under the beautiful lit scenery I went down on one knee, ring in hand and asked for her hand in marriage, ” he shared. Glenesha’s astonishment soon gave way to tears followed by laughter, and an emphatic “Yes!”

Here Comes The Bride

On July 16, 2022, marking the anniversary of their initial courtship, the couple was joined in holy matrimony at the RCCG Jesus House Kingston. “This was something orchestrated by God,” the couple revealed.

The bride was chauffeured in a royal blue Maserati rented from Lavish Luxury Car Rental complementing the thematic hues of the wedding of blue and mustard yellow.

The couple’s family and friends threw them, in the words of Glenesha, the most beautiful wedding they could ever imagine — replete with the embellishments of a QR scan code programme, a rustic wooden welcome sign, charming lanterns, wooden aisle markers, and a magnificent circular arch.

Glenesha made her walk up the aisle in a bespoke mermaid-style gown, adorned with tulle and lace, draped off the shoulders and embellished with pearls from Etsy. The pièce de résistance was her magnificent cathedral train, which seemed to trail forever behind her. There was more! She serenaded her beloved with the soulful rendition of The One He Kept For Me by Maurette Brown Clark. It was a magical moment.

It was an emotional recital of wedding vows as Romaine and Glenesha exchanged wedding vows in between tears and laughter. “The ceremony was absolutely breathtaking,” The newlyweds told TSV.

Pastor George Kamalu officiated the wedding.

The Reception @ Jan’s Catering

The phrase “fun cyan done” took on a whole new meaning as the bridegroom and groomsmen and the bride and her attendants engaged in a lively dance-off. When the dust settled the bride claimed absolute domination.

Things settled down as the newly-weds took to the dance floor where they transitioned seamlessly from A Thousand Years by Vanessa Carlton to Shenseea’s You Are the One I Love and Good Woman by Romain Virgo.

A touching mother-son dance to KC & JoJo’s Mama and the father-daughter dance to Ding Dong and Voicemail’s Just Dance Waky Dip followed.

“Words of wisdom and encouragement were offered by our dear ones, urging us to persevere through life’s challenges,” Glenesha told TSV.

The unveiling of the wedding cake by Jan’s Catering was performed by the mothers of the bride and groom, the groom’s grandmother and the bride’s ‘bonus’ mom, who lovingly raised her from the tender age of eight months.

The reception culminated in an open dance floor.

The newly-weds thereafter honeymooned at Couples Tower Isle.
