Reggae Boy Magee makes USL move
COLORADO, United States (CMC) – Jamaica international Tyreek Magee has penned a deal with Colorado Springs Switchbacks for the rest of the United Soccer League (USL) championship season.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who made his international debut four years ago against United States, previously turned out for KAS Eupen in the Belgian Pro League for whom he made five substitute appearances.
“I’m excited to be in Colorado Springs with the Switchbacks this season,” Magee said in a club statement.
“I’m excited to use my qualities to help make the team better.”
Switchbacks lie second in the Western Conference on 16 points, two points adrift of leaders Sacramento Republic FC, and have enjoyed a solid start to their USL campaign with four wins in their last five outings.
Last season, the western United States club was good enough to reach the semi-finals of the USL Championship before losing to eventual champions San Antonio FC.
“[Tyreek] is a young player who has played at the top level in Belgium,” said Switchbacks Head Coach Stephen Hogan.
“He is coming back to the States to hopefully make a statement. His work ethic and ambition for his career got us interested in him.
“He is a very creative player with great vision and awareness. I’m excited to see him progress here and contribute to our success.”
Switchbacks host El Paso Locomotive FC at Weidner Field on Friday.
