Barracks Road roll on in Uplift Under-13 football
TUCKER, St James — Barracks Road Primary became the first school to win their first three games in the St James Football Association Victoria Mutual Foundation Uplift Under-13 Competition, after edging Green Pond 1-0 in their top-of-the-table Zone C game played at Wespow Park on Friday.
Shavar Blake, who scored in three-straight games, grabbed the winner in the 49th minute as Barracks Road raced to nine points to end Green Pond High’s perfect start.
Chetwood Primary joined Green Pond in second place on six points after they beat Maldon Primary 3-1 after conceding an early goal.
Joshua Foster gave Maldon Primary the lead in the second minute, but Chetwood responded almost immediately through Kwame Robinson a minute later.
Kevin Porter then gave Chetwood the lead in the 17th minute before Danielo Luton added an insurance goal in the 41st minute.
Albion Primary got their first points of the season after they were awarded the game when Adelphi Primary showed up an hour late.
