Police to lay charges following murder of St Ann bartender
ST ANN, Jamaica -Police say charges will be laid by the end of Thursday against a suspect in connection with the brutal murder of a St Ann bartender.
Shanna Burke, who is of a Buckfield, Ocho Rios address in the parish, was found stabbed to death in a bathroom at the Ocho Rios Market around 8:25 pm on Saturday night.
The police said Burke was at the JB Hide Out bar, where she worked in the market, when she left to use a nearby bathroom. When she did not return the owner of the bar went to make checks and found the deceased.
“I want to commend my investigators in Ocho Rios for their swift action to bring that situation to where it is right now,” said Senior Superintendent (SSP) Dwight Powell, who is in charge of the St Ann police division.
He was speaking at the monthly sitting of the St Ann Municipal Corporation on Thursday.
SSP Powell added that investigations are also far advanced in solving a shooting at the Brown’s Town market, in St Ann last week Saturday.
Two men were shot and injured during that incident.
